Brief info

Known for his poetic, expressive works that verge on surrealism, Egyptian artist Bahaa Amer (b. Cairo, 1977) explores fantasy, dreams, and metaphysical spaces beyond perceptual realism. His early practice responded to the socio-political turmoil of his time, while his later work challenges authority, convention, and perceptions of reality. Amer holds a Bachelor’s degree in Art Education (2000) and a Master’s in Restoration (2009), with further studies in Artistic Criticism. His expertise in Egyptian history and ancient techniques informs his practice. His work has been exhibited internationally and featured in six Bonhams auctions since 2014.
