Brief info
Laila Sedky is an Egyptian contemporary artist based in Cairo whose work explores memory, identity, belonging, spirituality, and the emotional landscapes of human experience. Through bold color, recurring symbols, and narrative-driven compositions, she draws from personal history, relationships, Egyptian culture, and the ongoing process of understanding the self.
Her practice is deeply connected to questions of heritage and lineage. As the great-granddaughter of Talaat Harb, Sedky reflects on the stories carried across generations and on the ways personal identity intersects with collective memory. Her recent work extends her visual language beyond painting, bringing contemporary storytelling into dialogue with traditional Egyptian craft.
