Contemporary artists have long relied on describing their art pieces based on the traditional rules of visual arts; rules set by those who came before them. There is a certain connection between them and artists from past eras; through this connection contemporary artists learn from and eventually free themselves of the traditional art framework in order to further dissect the human experience.

This exhibition relied on the artists’ ability to harmoniously unify traditional understanding of visual arts and the human form and transcended our conventional understanding of renditions of the human form in visual arts, through painting, sculpture and beyond. The artworks went beyond the borders of visual arts in their embodiment of the human form. ‘Figureless Figures’ brought together a number of artists who challenged predisposed notions about art through exploring and reviewing prosaic art theory and breaking away from the shackles and limitations of tradition.
